A large-scale installation called “Dreams of Gaspard”. It was exhibited at an event in the France Institute in Saint Petersburg dedicated to the longest night of the year. This project was a reflection on the poem “Gaspard de la Nuit” that was written by Aloysius Bertrand and a piano suite by Maurice Ravel. The central part of the installation was the Flywheel of sleep, a 5 meters high object comprised of wood, metal and diode-lamps. The lamps action (“animation”) was controlled by an Arduino. The Flywheel was spinning in both directions to symbolize that both the sleep was controlling us and we were controlling it.
